FinalBurn Neo is an active fork of the FinalBurn Alpha emulator, created by former FBA developers. In case it would help explore this issue any further, I generated a DIR2DAT for the MAME 2003 Reference Set (non-merged) ROMs, including CHDs: Download FB Alpha 2016 Reference Set - Complete Final Burn Alpha v0 2 97 39 ROMs torrent for free, Downloads via Magnet Link or FREE Movies online to Watch in.
It seems that Non-Merged MAME 0.78 with the 2003 core is already officially recommended MAME set for RetroPie.

Split and Merged sets are basically hacks to reduce bandwidth consumption at the cost of the archive integrity of clone/child ROMs.

As with the Atari 2600 ROMs, I'll try to describe the reasoning for this request:
I would like to make a heartfelt request, like when I posted about the Stella / Atari 2600 database, to either add to or replace the existing Arcade database entries. I thought it might have something to do with different branded SD cards at first, as the ones that weren't working have the same Team branded cards, but even after swapping the other card into those units, they just won't remember any settings.Īnybody know why this may be? Defective units? Different hardware/software/firmware revisions (all 3 indicate 1.05)? Is there some trick that I stumbled upon to get the settings to stick, and if so does anybody know what it is?Īlso, I wanted to note that I tried to use a save ram file so one of my kids could continue a game he was playing on another device, but I was dissapointed to find that the J6 didn't read it.I know that there has been a lot of activity and discussion about the database, and that some entries have already been added for MAME and FBA. the first one I set up remembers that I set it to English as well as other setting changes after a power cycle. None of them came with the SD card included. Edit: this is based upon the revision done in 3/Jul/2019.

This is all for FinalBurn Neo v0.2.97.44, I will update these files in case there's something to fix. I thought the J6 looked cool, and since it was super cheap I purchased 3 of them for my kids. The other issue is that I couldnt find any sites with 'FB Alpha roms v0.2.97.30', which means either Im just out of luck on RA 1.3.3 and have to hope one of the newer versions of RA has an FBA v0.2.97.39 core. With the help of Notepad++, I have edited out the clones (with a few useful exceptions) as well as creating a Neo Geo-only dat, all without homebrew and most other 'badware'. That SD card dump didn't have any games so I tried the built in ones from another dump and it doesn't seem to like them.
